13 below zero. By games end 20 below zero. Attendance: 50,861 Referee: Norm Schachter Officials
couldn't use whistles. The bands couldn't play. Their mouth pieces froze to there lips. Rilvary
describes these two teams. This game ends on a play made by Starr. But after further review Jerry Kramer who led
Starr into the end zone over Jethro Pugh left prior to the snap. That's why the play worked. No instant replay.
Game Over. If your Norm Schachter and the rest of the officials as a human being enduring the cold maybe I
wouldn't have said anything either. With 50,861 at the game, the noise was probably hard to deal with trying
to hear the officials trying to stop play with just their voices. By that time maybe they didn't have much voice
left or maybe an official tried to signal false start but wasn't heard. After a conference they probably said, "ah
let's just get out of here and get warm". This is a situation that isn't seen in this era of football.
Most facilities are indoor and you create the environment. "The Frozen Tundra - Lambeau Field". A historic
game in the history of football.
